Patrick Gillen founded Krankit.com in the fall of 1998. Its mission was to provide live, high quality, interactive entertainment to the users of the Internet. He logged online one afternoon, noticing that there was something missing; something to his knowledge that did not yet exist. Patrick researched what was required to make his dream become a reality. Once his research was completed, he and a group of friends started doing daily broadcasts over the internet. It was a very small operation in 1998. They were not yet broadcasting five hours a day in their first few months of operation. At that time, it was an enjoyable hobby for Patrick. Months later, people caught onto his idea and decided to try their hand at internet broadcasting. Soon everyone was hooked. A chat room was created; they took requests, and invited everyone's friends and families to tune in.
Mr. Gillen wanted to get more listeners involved. He logged on to a popular chat program that was known as “Powwow”. He talked to the Business Manager of Powwow and told her about Krankit, and what it had to offer. Amazed with this apparent opportunity, Powwow decided to give Krankit it's very own chat room free of charge, providing "spotlights" which would advertise Krankit and it's chat room. This also gave the listeners the option of joining the room right when they launched the chat program. The room soon filled with hundreds of users, all tuned in to Krankit. People were amazed by this notion of internet radio. Krankit gave others a chance to try their hand at DJing. This was the boost that Krankit needed to make Patrick's dream come true.
Krankit is a live and fully interactive Internet Radio station, now known as KIBC, and is one of the internet's most listened to radio stations. In January of 2000, Patrick decided to make his dream come true into a business, registering Krankit as Krankit Interactive Broadcasting. In January 2003, he incorporated Krankit to its new name Krankit Interactive Broadcasting Corporation. Today, not only is Krankit (KIBC) an internet radio station with millions of listeners each month; we provide stream hosting for anyone that would like to start their own broadcasting on the internet and advertising for companies keeping in mind their individual needs and wants.
